Surfactants Packaging

Surfactants Packaging

Surfactants are perhaps best known for their use in cleaning products. A product that is known for reducing the surface tension of a liquid when dissolved, this ingredient is often found in soaps, gels, dishwashing liquid, and shampoo. Other common surfactant applications include waxes, anti-fog products, adhesives, herbicides, and other garden products, and more.

Surfactants can also pose packaging challenges due to their makeup and their porous nature, and it’s important to find the right solution that blends strength and durability. CDF’s liners present an ideal solution for surfactant packaging. Read on to learn more or contact CDF today.

IBC Liners for Surfactants Packaging

CDF’s IBC liners are high-quality and durable. They’re also designed to maintain the purity of the product that they’re holding, while adding ease and convenience to product evacuation.

Though CDF offers custom liner options for any product, the liners we stock include:

Form-Fit liners: As the name implies, these liners are designed to fit the shape of your IBC tote or bin. Known for excellent product evacuation and low defect rates, these liners are ideal for top-fill applications.

Air-Assist liners: Air-Assist liners are similar to Form-Fit liners, except they include an air bladder to help even more with product evacuation. When the air bladder is inflated, it pushes against the liner, assisting with dispensing from a fitment, which is typically located on the bottom of the liner. It’s an ideal liner for hands-free dispensing. In fact, CDF’s Air-Assist liner can yield up to 99.5 percent product evacuation compared to conventional IBC solutions.

Pillow liners: These more conventional liners are comprised of two or three layers of PPE, with a barrier film for aseptic and oxygen-barrier applications.

The Defender Stainless Steel IBC liner: Ideal for holding chemicals, inks, liquids, paints, and more, the Defender provides a premium level of protection between the product and the stainless steel IBC.

Bag-in-Box for Surfactants Packaging

Surfactants are prone to degradation when exposed to oxidation and UV light, which can reduce their effectiveness and shorten their shelf life. Bag-in-box packaging offers an effective solution by acting as a barrier against air and light, reducing headspace to minimize oxygen exposure, using opaque materials to block UV light, and maintaining a sealed environment that prevents contamination. This helps maintain their integrity and performance, ensuring they remain effective for longer periods.

Ease of dispensing is another advantage of bag-in-box packaging, as many surfactants used in industrial and manufacturing processes require precise dosing and easy dispensing. Bag-in-box systems typically feature integrated taps or valves that facilitate controlled, clean, and easy dispensing of the product. Additionally, the closed system of a bag-in-box reduces the risk of contamination and exposure to hazardous chemicals, which is crucial in environments where safety and cleanliness are paramount. Furthermore, bag-in-box packaging often uses fewer materials than traditional containers, resulting in less waste. The collapsible nature of the bags also means they take up less space when disposed of, contributing to lower waste management costs.

These advantages make bag-in-box an ideal packaging solution for surfactants, enhancing product stability, safety, and sustainability while also providing operational efficiencies and environmental benefits.

Environmental Impact

CDF’s solutions aren’t just intended to be durable, but environmentally friendly as well. Our IBC liners use less plastic than conventional packaging solutions. This means less resources and materials are needed to manufacture the packaging. It also means that fewer materials are discarded once the packaging reaches the end of its lifecycle.
