Salary: Starting at $23.00/Hour
Schedule: Second Shift (Monday through Friday – 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM), Third Shift (Monday through Friday 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM), Weekend Shift (Friday through Sunday – 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Position Summary
The Quality Technician supports CDF’s commitment to producing safe, compliant, and high-quality packaging products. This role conducts in-process inspections, verifies product against specifications, supports food safety and regulatory requirements, and provides real-time feedback to operators and supervisors. The Quality Technician plays a key role in maintaining consistency, ensuring accurate documentation, and driving issue-identification and root-cause prevention.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Verification
- Perform in-process and final inspections in accordance with established quality standards and work instructions.
- Measure, record, and verify critical quality attributes (CQA) including dimensions, seals, weights, visual criteria, cleanliness, and compliance to customer specs.
- Sample materials according to AQL standards and internal sampling plans.
- Validate labels, lot codes, and traceability requirements.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Support food safety guidelines under SQF, GMP, HACCP, and customer-specific requirements.
- Enforce hygiene expectations and escalate non-compliance.
- Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready quality work areas.
Documentation & Records
- Accurately enter inspection data into quality systems and production records.
- Complete hold tags, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and deviation documentation.
- Maintain calibration logs and verify the condition of measuring equipment.
Issue Identification & Problem-Solving
- Notify operators and supervisors of defects immediately to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action.
- Support continuous improvement through data collection and trend analysis.
Communication & Collaboration
- Partner with machine operators, shift supervisors, and engineering to ensure consistent product quality.
- Escalate product, process, or safety concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support training of new operators on quality expectations and basic inspection tasks.
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years of quality, inspection, or manufacturing experience (preferably in packaging, plastics, or regulated food-contact environment).
- Ability to read and interpret specification sheets and inspection standards.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or other data-entry systems.
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQF, GMP, HACCP, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, thickness gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Prior experience in plastic film, flexible packaging, or converting operations.
- Bilingual (English/Portuguese) a plus.

Work Schedule & Coverage Expectations
Quality Technicians support production across all shifts. Flexibility may be required to support:
- Pre-shift audits
- Hold releases
- Start-up verifications
- Cross-shift communication during transitions
Shift Supervisors: oversee time/attendance, workplace behavior, and adherence to general expectations.
Quality Supervisor: provides oversight of quality procedures, technical accuracy, and quality performance.
Physical Requirements
- Regular walking, standing, bending, and reaching.
- Lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, forklifts, and production equipment.
- Use of PPE as required (gloves, gowns, hearing protection, etc.).
