Machine Lead – Flexible Packaging Division

Day Shift – Full Time

Plymouth, MA

Position summary: The Machine Lead is responsible for overseeing the operation and performance of multi-ply machines within the Flexible Packaging Group. This role requires strong mechanical expertise, the ability to lead a team effectively, and a hands-on approach to achieving production goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, possess strong leadership skills, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in mechanical or manufacturing fields is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in flexible packaging or a related industry.
  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and adjust machines.
  • Leadership experience, including managing and mentoring a production team.
  • Basic computer proficiency; experience with production tracking software is preferred.

Qualifications desired:

  • Forklift license or ability to obtain one
  • Six Sigma Certification

Essential functions and responsibilities:

Machine Operation and Maintenance

  • Operate multi-ply machines efficiently and safely.
  • Lead all setup activities, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to production schedules.
  • Perform routine maintenance and make machine adjustments as needed to maintain optimal performance.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide clear direction to the crew, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Mentor and train team members to build their skills and ensure consistent performance.
  • Drive accountability by setting and communicating expectations for quality and productivity.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions.

Quality and Compliance

  • Follow all quality and food safety policies to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Regularly inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and company goals.
