Second Shift – Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Third Shift – Monday through Friday, 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Job Title: Floor Person – Drum & Pail
Reports To: Shift Supervisor – D&P
Department: Manufacturing

Position Summary:

The Floor Person supports daily production by ensuring a smooth flow of materials, covering operators during breaks, and assisting with machine operation and troubleshooting. This role is critical in maintaining safe, efficient, and organized work areas and ensuring quality standards are met. The Floor Person also serves as a backup for the Shift Supervisor when needed, supporting continuity of operations.

Qualifications:

Experience & Technical Knowledge

·         3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics preferred)

·         Mechanically inclined; able to troubleshoot basic machine issues

·         Fork Truck certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)

• Familiarity with basic quality checks and packaging specifications

·         Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and quality management systems.

·         Certifications & Compliance

·         OSHA 10/30 certification; strong knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

·         Fork truck certification.

·         Working knowledge of GMPs, FDA packaging requirements, and environmental compliance standards.

• Basic computer proficiency for labeling and documentation

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Material Handling & Production Support

• Pull raw materials, packaging, and supplies for production lines
• Wrap, label, and store finished products according to specifications
• Package and palletize regrind materials
• Verify accuracy of box labels and quantities

Machine Assistance & Coverage

• Cover operator breaks and lunches, ensuring no production downtime
• Assist with machine changeovers, separating product and scrap
• Work on machines as needed to support production flow
• Report quality or equipment issues promptly to Shift Supervisor

Quality & Safety

• Conduct in-process visual inspections and document results
• Follow all quality, GMP, and food safety procedures
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and replenish supplies at shift end
• Support safe work practices and adherence to all company policies

Training & Development

• Complete training on eight machines within six months
• Learn and practice basic troubleshooting skills to minimize downtime
• Participate in cross-training and skill-building opportunities

Supervisor Support

• Act as backup for Shift Supervisor when needed
• Assist with receiving incoming materials and completing shift paperwork

Production & Quality
• Consistently achieve ≥98% on-time and accurate completion of material deliveries and coverage assignments per shift, ensuring all production lines remain fully supplied.

• Maintain ≥98% handling accuracy and product integrity for all materials staged or transferred.

• Ensure 100% accuracy of box labels and packaging documentation


Safety & Compliance
• Zero recordable safety incidents.
• 100% compliance with GMPs, LOTO, and company safety rules.

Training & Skill Development
• Complete training on all eight machines within 12 months of hire or assignment.
• Demonstrate ability to perform basic troubleshooting on at least 3 machine types within 12 months.
Housekeeping & Organization
• Maintain work area at 5S audit score ≥90% per month.
• Replenish supplies and leave area clean at end of every shift (100% compliance).

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Frequent standing, walking, and movement between production areas.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Manual dexterity for equipment adjustments.

• Exposure to varying noise levels (PPE required).

Performance Standards:

Performance will be reviewed annually or as determined by management.
