inserting liners into intermediate bulk containers
Form-fit ibc liners
Form-fit liners are typically much easier to fill then the traditional pillow-shaped liners. Form-fits are best filled from the top utilizing a fill bridge.
As the name implies, form-fits are form-fitted to the inside dimensions of the container. Some people use the term cube liner because of the square or cube-shape of the liner when it is full.
Form-fits typically allow for an easier fill and better evacuation with less residual product due to less folds and wrinkles, compared to a pillow bag.
There are 4 simple steps to filling a Form-fit style bag:
1. Drop the bag inside the container and square or align the bottom with the bottom
of the container.
2. Slide the fill fitment into fill bridge slot.
3. Make sure bottom of bag is still aligned with the bottom of container and start
filling.
4. A slight tugging of the corners of the bag may be necessary during the first fill,
but once the bottom is filled out and aligned, you should be able to walk away
and let the bag fill.
Pillow-Style IBC Liners
Pillow bags are typically filled from the bottom of the container with the bag sitting in a flat state on the floor of the container. The operator hooks up a hose and let’s the product fill the bag. Pillow style liners should not be used with a fill bridge or in top fill applications where the operator is hanging the bag.
Pillows can be more difficult for manual fills then a Form-fit and are best used with a cassette or automatic filler such as an aseptic fill liner.
There are typically 3 steps to filling a Pillow style bag:
1. Place the bag in the bottom of a container.
2. Reach over and hook up a hose (do not hang bag, as this causes distortion that
may lead to a mis-fill).
3. During the fill, pull up corners or (ears) of bag to make sure no folds are
restricting the product flow.
